Patmos
Patmos is one of the most beautiful islands of the Dodecanese, it is well known as the island of St. John the Evangelist.
It has an area of 34 square kilometers and length of coastline of 63 kilometers, 3.000 inhabitants.
The island offers a wide selection of beaches, from sandy and organized shores with umbrellas and beach bars to solitary coves. The choice of where to enjoy some of the clearest, refreshing and tranquil waters of the Aegean Sea is yours.
You can easily visit the nearby islands of Arki, Marathi and Lipsi with daily organized excursions or private boat.
Patmos' main communities are Chora (the capital city), where you can visit the Monastery of St. John and its museum. The strong presence of ecclesiastical art and architecture give a special Monasterial Character to the Island.
The Holy Monastery of Saint John the Theologian, the Holy Cave of the Apocalypse and the medieval settlement of Chora are included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Monuments
Skala, is the commercial port.
Other settlements are Grikos and Kampos.
